Panama seeks to diversify its tourism offer in Germany

Panama seeks to position its tourism brand in one of the largest fairs in the world for the travel industry, in which important wholesale buyers from more than 200 countries and 100 companies dedicated to tourism will participate.

This year the leisure tourism fair will take place from March 6 to 10, with three days for negotiations rounds between professionals of the sector and two days to attend to the general public.

The International Tourism Promotion Fund together with 21 Panamanian companies, including hotels, tour operators and airlines will be in charge of showing the country’s full potential in pavilion 22 B, dedicated to Latin America.

Adventure, nature, bird watching and beaches will be the fort of Panama, although modern city, Canal, historical sites, indigenous communities and gastronomy will also stand out, in a stand in which the replica of a typical house of Bocas del Toro will stand out , near the beach, to create a visual environment of the country.

The German market by preference seeks this type of tourist attractions. In 2018, the entrance of visitors from the European country increased by 6.5%, with the arrival of 35,648, while in 2017, 33,458 arrived.

Among the participating countries, Panama seeks to strengthen its destination brand, increase the number of visitors, raising the diversity of experiences that travelers can enjoy in the city and in the interior of the country.

Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), one of the associations of adventure travelers recognized worldwide, will hold on March 7 a cocktail party for 300 people in which Panama is the guest country. That day, the Panamanian delegation will explain the benefits of the destination and the German airline Lufthansa the direct flight facilities from the city of Frankfurt to Panama.

Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg are among the buyers who have always shown interest in knowing the offer that ITB Berlin’s large showcase offers every year.

In five days, the entire range of the tourism sector: countries, destinations, tour operators, reservation systems, transport companies, hotels, among others, will be exhibited at this fair.

During the event, the world’s leading wholesale operators and airlines formalize advertising cooperation agreements, air packages and strategic promotional campaigns.

This international fair is characterized by the excellent opportunity offered to all participants to discover new trends, products, concepts and opportunities for cooperation and hopes to bring together more than 175 thousand professionals from the travel industry, government ministers and international press.
